Research Technician II, University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix

ivalenzuela1@arizona.edu

I am a Research Technician at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, where I investigate the genetic basis of rare pediatric disorders. Using stem cell models and molecular biology techniques, my research focuses on identifying disease-causing genetic variants and developing therapeutic strategies for severe neurodevelopmental disorders, epilepsy, and hearing loss.

Previously, at the University of Arizona-Tucson, I studied the molecular mechanisms underlying blood-brain barrier dysfunction during epileptogenesis in a genetic mouse model. My work is driven by a commitment to translating genetic and molecular discoveries into therapies for individuals with neurological disease.
